I saw your comment in a download post for Fay Grim, which I've been interested in since hearing about a follow-up to Henry Fool. It is difficult to find Hal Hartley's films in the UK apart from Amazon and other online ordering companies (they're not exactly in high street stores), but I have recently sent off for Simple Men, Trust (from French Amazon!) and The Unbelievable Truth. So that irate "fan" was wrong... it's possible to send off for anything these days if they're not released in your territory, but it takes ages.

I've downloaded Trust (the dvd hasn't arrived and it's been a week) and Fay Grim. I'm looking out for Fay Grim in cinemas and any UK first screenings...perhaps you know about this? Because I would be there. The thing that spurred me to get a move on and get more of Hal's movies was seeing Trust on Youtube. I'm interested in "instant-gratification" services like Netflix you mention in your other blog, but I'd lay my house that only US users can access that service.

Aiming to be a filmmaker myself and possibly sitting on the other side of the fence in a few years, I totally agree with your sentiments. I don't envy the task of creating awareness, distributors etc and then becoming afraid of the potential repurcussions of something like this since it could be detrimental to a company that's not Fox et al. As you say, hopefully good will come of it such as people discovering Hal's films and wanting to see more (legally). And yes, seeing your movies on Bittorrent is definitely a backhanded compliment!
